I praise God for burning down straw-men and revealing SCOTUS idolatry

I praise God for burning down straw-men and revealing SCOTUS idolatry

by Brett Baggett

I praise God today! Roe is overturned.

To be more specific, I praise God that one of the straw-man arguments the Pro Life Movement has used to argue against abolition has just been burned to the ground. Look around Social Media and you will see the smoke. Roe was never law. Roe should have been nullified, as is the right of every State when the Federal Government enforces upon us something unconstitutional.

Another thing I celebrate today is the exposure of idolatry to the Supreme Court. SCOTUS’s decision should have been nullified instead of bowed down to. And it is as if many are now saying, “SCOTUS is a generous god to now allow the States to decide whether or not babies can be murdered.” SCOTUS is not the Supreme Being, but they have been treated as such by many to our shame.

On another note, as we celebrate the burning down of this straw-man, we must remember that Roe v. Wade being overturned does nothing in itself to provide equal protection to any image bearer.

All SCOTUS did was replace their wicked decision with another one. Though it is less egregious to say “you decide if babies can be murdered in your State” (Dobbs) than it was to say, “you must allow babies to be murdered in your State,” (Roe) it is still a wicked decision.

All SCOTUS did was replace their wicked decision with another one. Though it is less egregious to say “you decide if babies can be murdered in your State” (Dobbs) than it was to say, “you must allow babies to be murdered in your State,” (Roe) it is still a wicked decision.

SCOTUS’s job is to say “The Constitution is clear that none shall be deprived the right to life without due process. Therefore, no State has the right to allow or regulate abortion.” Instead of doing that, they punted to the States and said, “The right to abortion is nowhere in the Constitution.” No kidding! The exact opposite is in the Constitution, but instead of saying that they withheld justice yet again from the preborn.

While some states may use this to stop the killing of children, the fact remains: babies will continue to be murdered in many states under cover of law. Why will the Supreme Court not affirm equal protection of life?

We must keep laboring state by state to protect all image bearers from murder by providing equal protection under law. That is what love and justice looks like.

The straw-man of Roe is burned down.

The next straw-man that needs to be burned down is the false narrative that says “Women are victims.”

Do not rest in this fight until the law is applied equally to all image bearers, therefore abolishing abortion without exception or compromise. We are not there yet, but one day we will be. I praise God for that!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Supreme Court said we are not allowed to abolish abortion, did they not?

Yes, but the more important question we must ask is, “By what standard does the Supreme Court have the authority to force the states to allow mass murder?” According to the Constitution, any statute, court opinion, or regulation that mandates unequal protection is null and void by nature. Further, even if Roe did have a basis in the Constitution, state governments would be obligated to ignore it. Greater still, above any man-made statute, is the law of God, written on every man’s heart and in Scripture, which outlaws murder. Will we abide by the Supreme Court’s opinion that mass murder should be legal and thereby ignore the U.S. Constitution and God’s Word? Or will we abide by God’s Word and the U.S. Constitution by nullifying Roe?

Pro-life bills only criminalize the abortionist. Why does an abolition bill criminalize the mother, too?

There is nothing loving about laws that allow people to murder their own children without consequences. This is not compassionate. It is a moral atrocity that actually brings harm to abortion-minded parents. By only criminalizing abortionists and giving the mother automatic immunity in all cases, Pro-Life laws legalize self-induced abortions. Just law must criminalize the act of abortion itself, not simply prohibit certain people from performing it. Inconsistencies like giving out automatic immunity played a major role in the Roe decision. Roe author Harry Blackmun wrote in footnote 54 of the Roe decision that by giving automatic immunity to the primary perpetrators of the crime, the state of Texas was betraying the fact that they did not actually think preborn humans were fully human and deserving of protection. If Christians and Pro-Lifers consistently treat abortion as murder according to God’s Word, then the culture and courts will have no reason to question our duplicity.

Are criminal penalties retroactive?

No. Those who had abortions prior to abortion’s abolition will not be prosecuted.

What about situations in which the mother’s life is truly endangered?

When talking about the mother’s “health,” it is important to be very specific with our terms. The health exception defined in Doe v. Bolton (1973) is broad enough to include virtually anything, such as anxiety. In a situation where the only way to save the mother’s life is to end the pregnancy, it may be necessary to deliver the child early. As a result of early delivery, and depending on the child’s age at delivery, some children may not survive, and that is a tragedy, but no circumstance necessitates the child be murdered and then delivered. It is always the responsibility of the doctor to treat both human beings involved like human beings and attempt to save both, and it is always the responsibility of the magistrates to outlaw murder. Mother and baby must be overseen by medical staff in hospitals, not murder-minded abortionists in a murder mill.

Abolition bills are good, but incremental bills are still good too, right?

Incremental bills that regulate when, where, why, and how a mother or father can murder their preborn baby do nothing actually to save lives. These iniquitous decrees do, however, serve as legal precedent for murdering the most vulnerable and innocent among us. Regulation bills also communicate to the culture the insidious idea that we’re bound by every arbitrary court opinion up to and including orders to allow mass murder. Further, these bills teach dehumanizing, murder-justifying misinformation about preborn human beings. Outside of abortion mills, abortive mothers often parrot talking points justifying abortion that they learned from Pro-Life laws: “It’s okay. My baby won’t feel any pain.” “Life doesn’t begin until a detectable heartbeat.” In conservative states, incremental bills and the incremental ideology are quite literally all that’s standing in the way of abolition bills being passed, signed, and enforced.

Incremental, regulatory, Pro-Life bills defy and usurp God’s authority and His Word. Jesus did not come preaching the gospel saying, “Incrementally repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” No. Jesus commands, with all authority, for all Christians to teach all people “to obey all that [He] commanded” (Matt 28:19-30). Jesus never commands His people to compromise with the culture of death. He is King. Every knee must and will bow to Him. God’s Word is the schoolmaster teaching God’s holy will. His grace trains us “to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions” (Titus 2:12). The conscience, working in coordination with the law He has written on the heart, only approves of full repentance, not partial. God never promotes an incremental approach to mortifying sin in our personal lives or otherwise, so neither should we.

The only way to make war on that which is making war on Christ is by Christ’s weapons. By His rule and reign, through His powerful Word. Abolitionists commit ourselves to do that which God has called us regardless of the consequences. The duty is ours. The results belong to God.

WILL YOU IMITATE CHRIST AND RESCUE THOSE BEING TAKEN AWAY TO DEATH?

You will stand before God and give an account. The only way that will go well for you is because, if you are in Christ, Jesus rescued you who were being carried off to death! He marched to the cross to rescue you as you were stumbling to the slaughter. He interposed His precious blood. Seeing that Christ is our great example of rescuing those being carried off to death, we must not only offer real help to those who come to us, we must actively interpose on behalf of our preborn neighbors and at the same time offer the real hope of Christ clothed in His gospel. Did Christ Jesus only say, “Come to me . . . and I will give you rest?” (Matthew 11:28) or did He also say, “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10)? You know He said both. Jesus is not only the Great Physician you must come to for help, He is also the Hound of Heaven who must track you down and rescue you without your permission. His rescue of you has left you a model for rescuing others, believer. Proverbs 24:11 is what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for you. Will you not do for others, in your small way, what Christ has done for you in His infinite way? As Christ has rescued us, we must rescue others. Oh, how sweet that the rescued become the rescuers!

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT ADDENDUM: ON ABOLISHING ABORTION.PDF

This document can serve as a robust addition to your church’s doctrinal statement to strengthen and solidify your position on abolishing abortion.

DEFINITIONS

  1. Abortion: The unjustified, premeditated killing of a preborn human being. Also known as murder.
  2. Abolish: To formally and officially end, or outlaw a law, system, practice, or institution.
  3. Abolitionism: The doctrine that answers the question: “How does the Bride of Christ address and combat great evil in our society?” The abolitionist’s answer is: “Cease to do evil, immediately, without exception or compromise.”
  4. Abortion Abolitionism answers the question, “How does the Bride of Christ address and combat the great evil of the unjustified, premeditated killing (murder) of preborn humans in our society?” The abolitionist answer is: “Officially cease murdering the preborn, immediately without exception or compromise.”
  5. Five Tenets of Abortion Abolition – G.A.T.E.S.: Gospel-Centered, Aligned Providentially, Through the Church, Engaged Biblically, Sought Immediately without Exception or Compromise.
  6. Five Components of Abolition Bills: (1) outlaw abortion from conception; (2) include no exceptions for abortion; (3) criminalize abortion itself, and establish equal justice for the preborn; (4) do not submit to the unconstitutional ruling in Roe; and (5) repeal or supersede all statutes which allow for abortion.

AFFIRMATIONS

  1. From the moment of fertilization, all humans are created in God’s image by, through, and for Jesus to the glory of God, and all souls belong to Him (Genesis 1:27; 4:1; 21:2; Isaiah 7:14; Colossians 1:16; Romans 11:36; Ezekiel 18:4).
  2. As God’s image-bearers, all humans both display His divine worth, power, and attributes, and possess equal, objective worth before God, not varying based on incidental characteristics; such as ethnicity, age, size, means of conception, mental development, physical development, gender, potential, or contribution to society (Rom 1:19-20; Gen. 1:27; 9:6; Matthew 18:6).
  3. Abortion is murder, and to murder any preborn image-bearer is a sin, violating both the natural law of retributive justice as set forth in the Noahic covenant, as well as the sixth commandment forbidding murder, and as such, is ultimately an assault on God’s image, seeking to usurp God’s sovereignty as Creator (Gen. 9:5-6; Exodus 20:13; Proverbs 6:17).
  4. God’s Word declares that all human life is a sacred gift and that His Law is supreme over man’s life and man’s law (Psalm 127:3-5; 139:13-16; Rom 2:15-16; Acts 10:42; 17:31; 1 Corinthians 4:5).
  5. God commands His people to “rescue those who are being taken away to death” and holds them responsible and without excuse when they fail to do so (Prov. 24:11-12).
  6. God establishes all governing authorities as His avenging servants to carry out His wrath on the evildoer and commands these authorities to judge justly, neither showing partiality to the wicked, nor using unequal standards, which are abominations (Psa 82; Prov. 20:10; Rom 13:4).
  7. In 1973, the Supreme Court of the United States rendered an iniquitous decision on Roe v. Wade, and in doing so, deprived the innocent of their rights, and usurped God, who sovereignly ordained their authority (Isa 5:23; 10:1-2; Psa 2; Matt 22:21; John 19:11; Acts 4:19; 5:29, Rom 13:1).
  8. In the Roe v. Wade decision, the Supreme Court of the United States subverted the U.S. Constitution, namely, the Preamble, as well as the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, without any legal authority (Article 6, Clause 2 “Supremacy Clause”).
  9. Governing authorities at every level have a duty before God to uphold justice, asserting their God-ordained and constitutional authority to establish equal protection under the law for all, born and preborn, by intervening, ignoring, or nullifying iniquitous decisions when other authorities, such as the Supreme Court, condone such injustices as the legal taking of innocent life (Daniel 3; 1 Kings 12; 2 Kings 11; Jeremiah 26:10-16; 36:9-31; 37:11- 21; 39:7-10).
  10. Over the past 48 years with 60+ million abortions, traditional Pro-life laws, though well intended, have not established equal protection and justice for the preborn, but on the contrary, appallingly, have established incremental, regulatory guidelines for when, where, why, and how to obtain legal abortion of innocent preborn children, thereby legally sanctioning abortion.
  11. The murder of preborn children is a crime against humanity that must be punished equally under the law.
  12. Ectopic pregnancies are a tragedy during which medical triage is necessary, with doctors never ceasing to treat both mother and baby as human beings and upholding the Hippocratic Oath by exhausting all possible options to save as many human lives as they can.

DENIALS

  1. We reject any position that allows for any exceptions to the legal protection of our preborn neighbors, compromises God’s holy standard of justice, or promotes any God-hating partiality (Psa 94:6; Isa 10:1-2; Prov. 24:11; Psa 82:1-4).
  2. We will not embrace an incremental approach to ending abortion because it challenges God’s Lordship over the heart and the conscience and rejects His call to repent of sin completely and immediately (Gen. 3:1; John 8:44; Rom 2:14-15; 2 Cor 11:3).
  3. We deny that the treatment of an ectopic pregnancy is abortion. The predominant number of babies that implant somewhere other than the uterus pass away before any treatment is given. Removal of a deceased baby is not abortion. In cases of surviving ectopics, we must not equivocate between preterm delivery (leading to the unintended and inevitable death of the baby) and the intentional destruction of the baby by abortion through Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) or Dilation and Curettage (D&C). This conflation of preterm delivery with intentional destruction also impugns grieving parents who are forced to deliver the child early.

OUR RESPONSE

  1. We humbly lament, confess, and repent of any complicity in recognizing exceptions that legitimize or regulate abortion, and of any apathy in not laboring with the power and influence we have to abolish abortion (Prov. 24:10, 12; Zephaniah 1:12-13; Rom 12:11; Galatians 6:9; Hebrews 12:1-7; James 4:17; Revelation 3:2, 6, 15-16)
  2. We will engage, with God’s help, in establishing equal justice and protection for the preborn according to the authority of God’s Word, as well as local and federal law, and call upon pastors and leaders to use their God-given gifts of preaching, teaching, and leading with one unified, principled, prophetic voice, to abolish abortion (Matt 28:18-20; 2 Cor 2:17; 4:1-6; 5:11, 20).
  3. Because abolishing abortion is a Great Commission issue, we must call upon governing authorities at all levels to repent and “obey everything that [Christ] has commanded,” exhorting them to bear fruit in keeping with repentance by faithfully executing their responsibilities as God’s servants of justice, and working with all urgency to enact legislation, using the full weight of their office to interpose on behalf of the preborn, abolishing abortion immediately, without exception or compromise (Mark 6:18; Matt 28:18-20; Rom 13:4, 6).

THE FIVE COMPONENTS OF AN ABOLITION BILL

THE FIVE COMPONENTS OF AN ABOLITION BILL

COMPONENT 1.  FROM CONCEPTION

First and foremost, an abolition bill establishes that there is no right to murder a preborn human being at any stage. An abolition bill does not regulate which preborn human beings are old enough to be protected by law – it outlaws abortion itself. Any law regarding the legality of abortion which fails to outlaw the murder of preborn human beings from conception implicitly or explicitly legitimizes the murder of some children and is therefore iniquitous and entirely unacceptable.

COMPONENT 2.  NO EXCEPTIONS

An abolition bill does not leave any preborn humans unprotected by law, unlike most Pro-Life bills, which allow for exceptions. Three exceptions, in particular, are present in many pro-life bills: the rape exception, incest exception, and life/health of the mother exception. Victims of rape should have the support of the communities, and rapists should face swift justice, but people conceived in rape or incest are no less created in the image of God than any of us. We must not allow the murder of a child for the crimes of the father.

Regarding situations where the life of the mother is in jeopardy, there is no need for the intentional murder of the child. There are cases where the child must be delivered early, and in those cases, the child may have a lower probability of survival than a child born at full-term, but intentional murder must not be allowed as an option. Doctors must be healers, not killers. Abolition bills treat these emergency situations like the triage situations that they are. The doctor must treat both patients like human beings. Doctors are fulfilling their rightful role if they are doing all that they can to preserve the most human lives that they can. That does not mean murdering the baby can be used as an answer for any pregnancy complication, but it does mean that doctors in triage situations must do what they can to preserve as many lives as possible and should not face any penalty as long as they are doing so in good faith.

COMPONENT 3.  EQUAL PROTECTION

An abolition bill simply makes preborn human beings equal under the law, as mandated by God’s prohibition against partiality and the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. That means murdering or being an accomplice to the murder of a preborn human being comes with the same legal penalty as murdering or being an accomplice to the murder of a born human being. Pro-Life bills that give automatic legal immunity to the mother in all cases deprive preborn human beings of equal justice and protection. Giving the mother automatic immunity protects do-it-yourself abortion, which is on the rise. To say that the mother should be immune from penalty in the murder of her child is, in essence, to say that she has the right to murder her child. Abortion is not actually abolished if the mother is free to murder her child with impunity. Further, penalties are a deterrent. The law is a tutor, and laws that give people immunity in the murder of their child provide them no incentive not to do it. There are countless post-abortive mothers and fathers in the Abolitionist Movement who desperately wish that abortion had been classified as homicide so that this just punishment would have dissuaded them from murdering their child.

COMPONENT 4.  DEFY ROE

The Supreme Court is not the Supreme Being. They can be wrong, and when they are wrong so egregiously and intentionally as to legalize mass murder, the Christian magistrate and citizen alike must stand firmly on the Word of God in defiance of that decree (Daniel 3, Exodus 1:15-19, Acts 5:27-32, 1 Kings 12, 2 Kings 11). Roe is an obviously evil, obviously unconstitutional Supreme Court opinion ordering the states to allow mass murder within their jurisdictions. An abolition bill recognizes that the courts have no rightful authority to legalize murder. Court opinions legalizing murder are null and void by their nature and will be treated as such upon the passage of an abolition bill. This component is utterly rejected by the Pro-Life Establishment, which takes a posture of unconditional submission to the Supreme Court, which is idolatry.

COMPONENT 5.  REPEAL OR SUPERSEDE STATUTES ALLOWING ABORTION

Many laws have been passed by pro-life politicians regulating the murder of preborn human beings — where they can be murdered, when they can be murdered, how they can be murdered, the licensing needed to murder them, etc. An abolition bill repeals or supersedes these regulations because they codify into law the acceptability of murder in certain circumstances, and therefore must be repealed or superseded for abortion to be abolished. Abortion cannot be abolished while laws on the books establish that abortion is legal as long as you jump through Pro-Life hoops. These laws must be repealed or superseded. An abolition bill does exactly that.

THE FIVE TENETS OF ABOLITIONISM

THE FIVE TENETS OF ABOLITIONISM

TENET 1.  GOSPEL-CENTERED

Abortion is sin, and the cure to sin is the gospel. We must not engage in sub-Christian strategies that do not hold the gospel as preeminent. Why would we look elsewhere? Where is the power to change culture? Where is the power to change politics? Where is the power to awaken the Church? Where is the power to abolish child sacrifice? It is in the gospel. Abolitionists bring the gospel into conflict with the culture of death, as is necessary for our faith to be a living one (James 2:14-26). By this conflict, the kingdom is advanced as souls are reconciled to God and darkness is pushed back. The curse of sin affects all of creation, but God, through His gospel, promises to restore all of creation; to make everything new (Revelation 21:5). The abolition of abortion must be gospel-centered, and the gospel must progressively extend as far as the curse is found.

TENET 2.  ALIGNED PROVIDENTIALLY

God upholds, directs, disposes, and governs all creatures and things by His most wise and holy providence. With this truth in mind, abolitionists rely on the wisdom and providence of God, not on the worldly wisdom and pragmatism of man. As abolitionist John Quincy Adams put it, “Duty is ours, results belong to God.” We have a responsibility to be faithful to His command, which is for justice to be established and legal iniquity to be stamped out in full. In our declarations to our magistrates and to the world, we have no right to make pragmatic calculations and retreat a single inch from the Biblical truth that life begins at conception nor from the Biblical prohibition on murder.

The prevailing worldly political wisdom, even on the issue of child sacrifice, is that compromise is the key to progress. But those who have followed the worldly wisdom of compromise and incrementalism for 48 years have very little to show for their efforts. We must fight this spiritual battle with the spiritual weapons God has provided us, not with the carnal weapons of worldly politics wielded by most pro-life politicians who rarely speak plainly about child sacrifice. Rather, we must make “open statements of the truth” to “everyone’s conscience in the sight of God” (2 Corinthians 4:2). God moves most powerfully through His people declaring His Word. As Elizabeth Heyrick wrote in her 1824 pamphlet Immediate, Not Gradual Abolition, it’s time to engage in the battle with “more the spirit of Christian combatants, and less of worldly politicians.”

TENET 3.  THROUGH THE CHURCH

The gospel is the cure to abortion, and the only entity in the universe that possesses the gospel is the Church of Jesus Christ. We alone have been charged by our Lord and equipped by the Spirit to drive back the darkness, and drive back the darkness we must. In the parable of the good Samaritan, Jesus teaches that religious people will often neglect a neighbor in need and that they sin in so doing, regardless of any particular callings they may have. In the modern American context, there is almost no one who does not pass by the places of murder on a daily basis. If there is not an abortion mill in your area, there is a hospital or OBGYN office that performs abortions or a pharmacy that sells abortifacient drugs. Child sacrifice is all around us. We must utilize our spheres of influence to expose this evil in all of its horror and point people to the cure. We must go to the murder mills and plead for the lives of the children being taken away to death while offering spiritual and physical help to the mothers and fathers going in. We must bring the gospel into conflict with the sins of abortion, abortion apathy, and compromise with abortion.

TENET 4.  ENGAGED BIBLICALLY

Is not God’s Word God-breathed? Is not God’s Word sufficient? Is not God’s Word profitable for every good work? It is. Given this reality, everything we believe and do must be governed by God’s Word. This does not cease to be true when we step into the political realm because God is the God of every realm. The ideology of abolitionism springs forth from the pages of God’s word, not from the advice of pollsters and political parties. His Word is the sword we bear against the rampant wickedness which rules in our halls of power, making fatherless preborn children into prey. This tenet stands in stark contradiction to the vast majority of Pro-Life leaders who intentionally exclude God’s Word from their argumentation and activism for the sake of not offending secular and otherwise unbelieving conservatives. Unlike secularly-minded incrementalists, abolitionists believe that we must — as Wilberforce put it — “give an account of [our] political conduct at the Judgement seat of Christ.”

TENET 5.  SOUGHT IMMEDIATELY, WITHOUT EXCEPTION OR COMPROMISE

Incremental pro-life bills which regulate—and thereby sanction—abortion 1) are unbiblical, 2) are unconstitutional, 3) dehumanize preborn children, 4) entrench judicial idolatry, and 5) are substitutes for abolition which delay justice.

  1. The nation needs to repent, and calls for repentance in Scripture are never calls for gradual repentance. They are always calls for immediate repentance. Because Christ is Lord over everything and His word is the standard for all of our beliefs, the strategies we pursue must conform to His Word. As He says through the prophet Isaiah, “Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees” (Isaiah 10:1), any prospect of compromising with child sacrifice and regulating abortion is immediately off the table. What could be more iniquitous than a law establishing the acceptability of murdering human beings? You can argue that these regulations are less iniquitous than the status quo, but you cannot argue that they are not iniquitous. Isaiah 10 does not say, “Woe to those who decree iniquity unless the iniquity is less iniquitous than something else.” It says, “Woe to those who decree iniquity.”
  2. The rights to life and equal protection are Constitutional guarantees. Any law that allows certain human beings to be murdered denies these unalienable rights, as recognized and affirmed by the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. By regulating abortion, we have given up our ultimate foundation (God’s Word) and a secondary foundation (the U.S. Constitution). To argue for legislation like a 20-week ban or heartbeat bill that compromises with abortion is to lay down your two most powerful weapons and to weaken the power that truth and justice hold over the abortion debate.
  3. Incremental Pro-Life bills dehumanize children who do not meet arbitrary requirements for legal protection. They catechize the culture into believing that having a detectable heartbeat or the ability to feel pain is what makes us valuable. A Pro-Life Ohio State Senate aide told an abolitionist in 2019 that his abolitionist presentation “was very interesting, but it’s Senator Brenner’s personal religious conviction that life begins at a heartbeat.” Where did he learn that ridiculous and evil idea that humans do not have value until their heartbeats can be detected? He learned it from the Heartbeat Bill. Brenner was one of its primary champions. This is one of the consequences of supporting pro-life bills that violate our foundations: people are dehumanized, and the culture is miseducated.
  4. The abolitionist position is that the Supreme Court’s permission is not necessary to abolish abortion, but our position is also more likely to bring about Roe’s reversal. A state challenging the court’s self-appointed authority to legalize murder signals to justices that the people will no longer put up with judicial activism and legislation from the bench. If the Supreme Court senses that the people will no longer tolerate their defiling the Constitution and legalizing murder, they will be more likely to right their wrongs. The Pro-Life Establishment’s posture of unconditional submission to the Supreme Court only emboldens the Court’s tyranny.
  5. The 1833 abolitionist Declaration of Sentiments stated, “We regard as delusive, cruel and dangerous any scheme of expatriation which pretends to aid, either directly or indirectly, in the emancipation of the slaves, or to be a substitute for the immediate and total abolition of slavery” (emphasis ours). In the 2019 and 2020 Oklahoma legislative sessions, when the pro-life politicians refused to hear the Abolition of Abortion in Oklahoma Act, there was an outcry against them. To quell the outrage, they rushed through Pro-Life bills that gave the appearance of fighting abortion. Incremental Pro-Life bills are thus used by Pro-Life politicians as a substitute for the immediate and total abolition of abortion. The same thing occurred in Texas where State Rep. Jeff Leach, the man who prevented abortion from being abolished, filed an incremental Pro-Life bill (TX HB16) just days after the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act was assigned to his committee. Despite being primarily responsible for keeping abortion legal in Texas, Leach was awarded Texas Alliance for Life’s 2019 Courageous Defense of Life award because HB16 was signed into law. This is how the cozy arrangement between Pro-Life lobbyists and Pro-Life politicians operates. Wilberforce and the British slaves suffered to see this scenario play out over and over again. Whenever the abolitionists were gaining momentum, Henry Dundas and the incrementalists fought back by killing Wilberforce’s bill and passing a gradual bill in its place. In his 1807 book, A Letter on the Abolition of the Slave Trade, Wilberforce wrote, “the gradual Abolitionists have been, in fact, the only real stay of that system of wickedness and cruelty which we wish to abolish; though that assertion is unquestionably true; but it is trying beyond expression that they should be the real maintainers of the Slave Trade.”

WE MUST PROCLAIM THE HORRORS OF ABORTION AND POINT EVERYONE TO CHRIST CRUCIFIED

WE MUST PROCLAIM THE HORRORS OF ABORTION AND POINT EVERYONE TO CHRIST CRUCIFIED

What does the Lord say concerning speaking the truth even when it will sting the hearer?

“Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins” (Isaiah 58:1).
“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; . . . reprove, rebuke, and exhort. . . always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:1-5).

The sad truth is that many Christians, even many pastors, do not speak clearly about the horrors of abortion. Do you know what this leads to? It leads to many professed believers coming to the abortion clinic to murder their children, all the while saying things like, “Yeah, no one is perfect. God will forgive me.” The largest church in Oklahoma, maybe even the largest church in the United States, makes it easy to identify those who go to their worship experiences, as they call them. They give out stickers for people to put on the back of their cars. This also makes it easy to identify how many people come to the abortion clinic from their church. We have seen many from that church, and many others who profess to be believers in Christ. What is going on? Just this: when Christians and preachers refuse to speak plainly about the horrors of abortion, people think it is no big deal. And as a result, they do not love Christ as they should because they do not understand what He came to live, die, and arise to save sinners from. As Thomas Watson said, “Til sin be bitter, Christ will not be sweet.” When we do not point out the bitterness of sin, why should we expect sinners to see the sweetness of Christ Jesus our Lord? Consider with me what God says through the Prophet Jeremiah:

“From prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely. They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush” (Jeremiah 6:13-15).

Do you deal falsely with your Christian brothers and sisters? Do you deal falsely with God’s sheep, pastor? Do you try and heal the wound of God’s people lightly by crying, “‘Peace, peace’ when there is no peace”? Believers, are you ashamed of the abominations, or are you unable to blush? If you are not willing to lovingly wound the saints with the Word of God, you are, in fact, leaving them open to the scourge of God’s rod. God disciplines those He loves—sometimes by His Word, sometimes with by His providence.

Let me also ask you this: Are you refusing to tell sinners of the treason they have committed against their Creator because you do not want to offend them? Better to offend someone to heaven than love them to hell! Do you think the apostle Peter was a great fool—are you prepared to say that? Consider Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost:

“This Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. . . . Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified. Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do’” (Acts 2:23, 36, emphasis mine)?

Peter loved sinners enough to risk offending them. Do you? Allow me to ask another question: are you resisting the command to tell sinners of their rebellion against God because you do not want to be unloving? If so, then you must be more loving than Jesus! Are you prepared to say that—“I am more loving than Jesus”? Consider Jesus’ words in Luke 13:1-5:

“There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, ‘Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.’”

Jesus loved sinners enough to proclaim the horrors and consequences of their sin and call them to repentance. Do you think you can possibly put a burden on people through the proclaiming the Law that Christ and Him crucified cannot lift off? Of course you cannot. And it is precisely through preaching the Law that the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is most clearly made known to minds and hearts. Here is what it comes down to: If you want to see babies rescued, saints sanctified, and sinners saved, you must proclaim the horrors of abortion and point everyone to Christ crucified. Be like Isaiah, who, after proclaiming that the people’s “hands are full of blood” (Isaiah 1:15), and exhorting them to repent by saying, “Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless,” (Isaiah 1:16), preach the gospel to them.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” (Isaiah 1:18).

In Isaiah 1, ultimately God is pointing us to Christ crucified. We must do the same to others. We must tell sinners the good news that Christ takes red-handed sinners and turns them into white-robed saints. Will you proclaim the horrors of abortion and point everyone to Christ crucified?

WE MUST GO TO THE ABORTION CLINICS; PREACHING THE GOSPEL, PLEADING WITH PARENTS NOT TO SLAUGHTER THEIR CHILDREN, AND PROVIDING REAL HELP

What does the Lord say concerning those who are indifferent toward the child sacrifice happening in their land? Think about Leviticus 20:4-5:

“If the people of the land do at all close their eyes to that man when he gives one of his children to Molech. . . then I will set my face against that man and against his clan and will cut them off from among their people, him and all who follow him in whoring after Molech.”

Rather than closing our eyes, we must keep them wide open while we consider how to best rescue those being slaughtered. One specific way we can do this is by going to the abortion clinics, which are more accurately called Murder Mills, in order to preach the gospel, plead with parents to have mercy on their children and to offer real help.

The Murder Mill is a bottleneck, where the abortion-minded go to hire someone to kill their child. This is the last chance to “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy” (Proverbs 31:8-9). Do you know what happens when Christ’s bride shows up at the gates of hell? The gates of hell do not prevail; God saves babies from death. We have seen this in Tulsa, OK. God rescued more than 20 babies just in Tulsa, OK, from January-September of 2021, through the efforts of His people standing armed with compassion and truth. As I write this we at my church are preparing for a baby shower this Saturday that are be throwing for a mother who came to the abortion clinic to kill her child, but through the pleadings and prayers of the saints, decided to choose life. God changed her mind because His people were there where babies are murdered.

In Nashville, TN, God has saved more than 300 children and counting through the efforts of Scott Hord and those who also minister alongside him there. In Orlando, FL, R.C. Sproul’s hero, John Barros, has been used by God to rescue over 1,500 tiny image bearers who were being carried off to death. There are many things we must do to rescue, and this is clearly one of them. Maybe you feel helpless when it comes to doing this kind of ministry. Do not worry! We can help you figure out how to start a Murder Mill Ministry. It is truly not difficult to begin. Will you “rescue those being taken away to death” by going to the abortion clinics; preaching the gospel, pleading with parents not to slaughter their children, and providing real help?

WE MUST REJECT ANY MEDICINE THAT KILLS BABIES AS WELL AS MEDICINE THAT WAS PRODUCED BY KILLING BABIES

WE MUST REJECT ANY MEDICINE THAT KILLS BABIES AS WELL AS MEDICINE THAT WAS PRODUCED BY KILLING BABIES

If we are going to truly rescue the weak and the needy, we need to reject any murderous medicines, as well as any murder-sourced medicines. What may be shocking to many believers is what hormonal birth control pills actually do.

85% of the time hormonal birth control pills are abortifacient.

They do not primarily prevent pregnancy. Rather, they primarily terminate the life of an image bearer of God. And though other hormonal birth control methods, such as IUD’s, are less frequently abortive, they all have a fail rate and are therefore abortifacient. Do you or will you now reject murderous medicines such as hormonal birth control?

In addition to considering and rejecting murderous medicines, we must also consider and reject murder-sourced medicines. I simply ask, do you know what is in the vaccines you put in your body or your children’s bodies?

At least 27 vaccines contain cells, cellular debris, protein, and DNA from aborted babies, including but not limited to: Adenovirus, Polio, Dtap/Polio/HiB Combo, Hep A, Hep A/Hep B Combo, MMR, MMRV Pro Quad, Rabies, Varicella, Shingles vaccines, Ebola, tuberculosis, malaria, and influenza.

These babies were not ectopic’s, the mothers were not sick, and they were not high-risk pregnancies. These babies were murdered for the purpose of using their innocent little bodies, made in the image of God, to test or develop medicines for the alleged “greater good.” Tell me, who does “murdering the innocent to promote the greater good” sound like?

Appallingly, documentation proves that at least 181 aborted babies have been used in the creation of human diploid cell strains for vaccine development and research.

COVID-19 vaccines also contain cells, cellular debris, protein, and DNA or have been tested using aborted fetal tissue.

You may say to me, “Well, I did not know those medicines did that.” I would say in response, “At one time, I did not either. It was because of my willful ignorance. I did not care to look into what I was approving of or putting into my body or my children’s bodies. God will not let me off the hook for that. I must repent and trust Christ to cleanse me from that sin!” What does the Lord say concerning excuses like “I did not know” when it comes to the innocent being slaughtered? Consider Proverbs 24:12, which directly follows the command to “rescue those being taken away to death”:

“If you say, ‘Behold, we did not know this,' does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work” (Proverbs 24:12)?

Brothers and sisters in Christ, we must not “do evil that good may come” (Romans 3:8). You and I must “take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). Babies are still murdered even now and sold by murderous organizations in order to line their pocketbooks and further fetal cell research. Do you remember the videos secretly recorded and released in 2014-2015 which exposed that Planned Parenthood was selling aborted babies’ bodies? This is still happening today. As blood-bought believers, we must reject anything that participates in the murder of the innocent, or we cannot say with any integrity that we are seeking to “rescue those being taken away to death.” Will you reject murderous medicines and murder-sourced medicines?

WE MUST DEMAND OUR GOVERNING AUTHORITIES ESTABLISH EQUAL JUSTICE, THEREFORE MAKING IT ILLEGAL TO KILL BABIES

WE MUST DEMAND OUR GOVERNING AUTHORITIES ESTABLISH EQUAL JUSTICE, THEREFORE MAKING IT ILLEGAL TO KILL BABIES

The job description of governing authorities is not determined by the majority; it is determined by the Lord. The Lord God makes the marching orders for all legislative representatives and any civil magistrate. God tells City Councils what to council; through the written Word, the Spirit of God commands Governors how to govern; the Lord Jesus Christ chooses how Sheriff’s sheriff, how Police police, how Presidents preside, how Courts conclude, and how Cabinets conduct. In Romans 13, God says through Paul that the governing authorities are His “servants,” which at the very least denotes that He is their master. Civil servants are not primarily the servants of the people. Rather, civil servants are primarily the servants of God Himself, and they, therefore, must do as He commands or reap the consequences.

What does God say concerning the duties of governing authorities? Consider Psalm 82:2-4.

“How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked” (Psalm 82:2-4).

Is the truth not clear? Governing authorities must not judge unjustly nor show partiality to the wicked. They must give justice to the weak and the fatherless, maintaining the right of the afflicted and the destitute. And if that is not clear enough when it comes to governing authorities’ duties before God, He says, “Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Therefore it is the obligation of all governing authorities to establish justice, not allowing anyone to kill an innocent human being with impunity. In his commentary on Psalm 82, William S. Plumer writes,

“The duties of magistrates are very difficult and onerous [burdensome]. They have great need of wisdom, truthfulness, courage, calmness, humility, benevolence, patience and a nice sense of justice. . . . As to the doom of wicked rulers the Scriptures give us fearful examples in many and no less fearful predictions, Isaiah 14:14, 15; Ezekiel 28:1-11.”

God’s civil servants need help as they bear the burden of ruling. Those who personally know the way, the truth, and the life should help those who govern by way of encouragement and exhortation. The sobering reality we must all face is that God’s civil servants have weighty responsibilities, and the consequences of their actions are life or death. In Isaiah 14, God says wicked rulers will be brought “down to the pit,” and in Ezekiel 28, He declares that the wicked Prince of Tyre “shall die the death of the slain.” God’s commands for civil authorities are clear: He demands in His Scriptures that they outlaw such horrific acts as abortion. How will they know and be faithful to obey the King of kings when it comes to their duties if we do not tell them by speaking the truth in love? Therefore, the Lord’s people must tell their State Senators, State Representatives, Governors, and Attorney Generals what God demands of them. Christ has a kingdom of citizens armed with the sword of the Spirit who are to call God’s servants to do what is right—to establish justice, primarily by protecting the weak and the innocent. We must demand our governing authorities establish equal justice by abolishing abortion, therefore making it illegal to kill babies. Will you love those who represent you in positions of civil government enough to speak plainly and soberingly about what their master commands them to do?

WE MUST RESCUE THOSE BEING TAKEN AWAY TO DEATH

WE MUST RESCUE THOSE BEING TAKEN AWAY TO DEATH

I know of no clearer verse in all of Holy Scripture than Proverbs 24:11, concerning our duty as God’s people regarding abortions that happen in our cities, counties, states, and country.

“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter” (Proverbs 24:11).

God does not say, “Pray for those being carried off to death.” Nor does He say, “Wish for those not to be carried off to death.” He does not say, “Long for the day when those would not be carried off to death.” He absolutely does not say, “Regulate how many of those are carried off to death.” God does not say, “Make it unthinkable for people to carry off others to death.” No! The Lord God, through this wise man, commands that we rescue those being taken away to death, and He does not say please. The Lord Jesus Christ gives the orders, we march; He demands, we bend the knee; He commands, we joyfully obey by the help of the Spirit. Charles Bridges, in his commentary, wrote this concerning Proverbs 24:11:

“The Hebrew midwives, and Esther in after-ages, thus delivered their own people drawn unto death. Reuben delivered Joseph from the pit. Job was the deliverer of the poor in the extremety, Jonathan saved his friend at imminent risk to himself. Obadiah hid the LORD’s prophets. Ahikam and Ebed-melech saved Jeremiah. Johanan attempted to deliver the unsuspecting Gedaliah. Daniel preserved the wise men of Babylon. The Samaritan rescued his neighbor from death. Paul’s nephew delivered the great Apostle, by informing him of the murderous plot. The rule includes all oppression, which has more or less of the character of murder.”

Have you obeyed this command when it comes to millions of your preborn neighbors who have been slain in the womb in your lifetime? Have you simply obeyed the golden rule?

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them” (Matthew 7:12).

I suspect the majority of us have not, as evidenced by the fact that abortion mills are still mutilating by the masses, and laws still do not protect our pre-natal neighbors. Babies are still slaughtered each day by the thousands under cover of law, with few even trying to rescue them.

Forgive me, but I must be explicit here because we must understand exactly what happens thousands of times per day in our land. Close your eyes and see 60 million slain babies in your mind—see the forceps breaking their skulls and ripping off their limbs into small enough pieces to scrape out of their mother; see the vacuum sucking them out of their mom, depositing their bodies as liquid into a sterilized container; see the pills swallowed which will effectively starve the child to death and discard its precious body in the woman’s cycle. See that in your mind, then read again this command: “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter” (Proverbs 24:11). The Word of God is a mirror that exposes our sin and reveals the soap that washes it away. Oh, that we would first look into this mirror of the law and see our sin. Do you see the filth, the dirt, the wretched death that stains the flesh?

May God give you the stinging mercy to see how you may have participated in or been apathetic toward your neighbors who are being murdered all the day long.

What does this mean for you and me? Simply put, this means you and I must repent from any participation in this evil, as well as repent from any apathy concerning rescuing those slaughtered. And if you and I have been convicted by God and turned from our wicked participation or apathy, we must, by God’s strengthening grace, “bear fruit in keeping with repentance” (Matthew 3:8).

THIS IS WHAT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS DONE, IS DOING, AND WILL DO FOR YOU, CHRISTIAN

Proverbs 24:11 is a mirror that exposes our sin, yet it also points us to the soap that washes it away. Look at this verse and see the Savior—the Lord Jesus Christ. He Himself has rescued all those who believe in Him from being carried off to death. Oh, think with me on the cosmic rescue of Christ!

  1. In Christ, you have been rescued from the curse of the Law.
“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us—as it is written ‘cursed be everyone that is hanged in a tree’” (Galatians 3:14).
  2. In Christ, you have been rescued from this body of death. “Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death” (Romans 7:24)?
  3. In Christ, you have been rescued from this present evil age and the domain of darkness. “[Christ] gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age” (Galatians 1:4). “[God] has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son” (Colossians 1:20).
  4. In Christ, you have been rescued from the enslaving fear of death. “[Christ delivered] all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery” (Hebrews 2:4).
  5. In Christ, you are being rescued from trials that would seek to lead you to the swamp of despair. “The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials” (2 Peter 2:9).
  6. In Christ, you are being rescued from every evil deed that would seek to snatch away your glorification. “The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom” (2  Timothy 4:18).
  7. In Christ, you will be rescued from the wrath to come. “…wait for [God’s] Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

Some of you need to, for the very first time, truly repent of your sin, believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, and be saved. You need to be born again. You need to be forgiven of your sin. You need to be converted. You need to see that because of your sin you are in the path of the wrath of God, and He “will by no means clear the guilty” (Nahum 1:3). You need God to be reconciled to you. Mark it down: your participation in or indifference toward those who are being unjustly carried off to the slaughter will lead to God justly carrying you off to the slaughter in hell. The only answer is the Lord Jesus Christ and His work as the great Rescuer, who became a substitute sacrifice for sin so that everyone who believes in Him would be saved. You must turn from your sin and embrace Christ Jesus through faith. Oh, look to Christ crucified and live; you need only look and live! Outside of Christ, you are under a curse for your sin. “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the Law and do them” (Galatians 3:13). But “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us—as it is written ‘cursed be everyone that is hanged in a tree’” (Galatians 3:14). Oh, friend, your biggest problem is not political, relational, physical, or material; your biggest problem is that you have vehemently offended the thrice-holy God, and “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

God has fixed a day that He is going to either cut your head off or cut your sin out. If you are in Christ, you get the loving scalpel; If you do not repent, you get the vengeful sword. Repent and believe the gospel of “Jesus Christ the Righteous” (1 John 2:1). Praise be to God that Jesus Christ takes away sin by the blood of His cross for all who believe on Him. “Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Have you been rescued from death by the precious blood of Christ? Oh then, out of grateful joy, make it your business to rescue those being carried off to death! Have you been held back from your stumbling to the slaughter by Christ rushing headlong into the slaughter with His death? Then make it your aim to hold back those stumbling to the slaughter with your life.
